What I Believe

Many people, including myself, has taken our friends for granted. However, now I believe that friendship is very important and how great it is to have a friend. A friend can be very helpful and supportive. Also, it is fun to just play and hanging out with a friend. These are just some reasons for why I believe that friendship is very important.

I was born in Hong Kong. At the end of second grade, my family decided to move Maryland. I was very sad after hearing about this decision because I would be in a new place where I would barely be able to communicate with anyone and I have no friends in Maryland. Then, few weeks later during summer, my family moved to Maryland. After moving to Maryland, I was very bored and lonely because my English was very bad and I didn't know anyone. One day, my father introduces me to his childhood friend and his family, who happens to live quite close. My father's friend has two sons around my age and one daughter that is few years younger than me at that time. In the following weeks, I quickly became friends with them because we all can speak Cantonese and we have some common interests. I slowly started to become very happy because I have friends that I can play with, to hang out with, and to talk to. They also helped me improve my English so that I can communicate with other people. It was during those days that I learned the importance of friendship and how great it is to have friends. In conclusion, I believe that friends are very important.
